Detroit Beetroot is a favourite root vegetable to grow. It is most widely used for its baby leaves as a tasty and nutritious addition to salad greens, and of course its delicious, rich, purple root. Baby leaves can begin to be cut from 30 days, however, try to avoid cutting all the leaves off the plant at any one point.
This hardy variety is also resistant to downy mildew.
Beetroot will be ready to harvest from 55-90 days from sowing. Seeds may benefit from washing in warm running water.
